The Wabi-Sabi link came from a yurt in Maine, Kat. And I'm sure recuperating after a slight meltdown is still considered "work."

I understand about your windows, now, VTam - and Kat has a good idea. A couple of years ago the entire library where I work (six floors, lots of windows) was treated with a UV film to help on heating and cooling costs and building exposure to fading sun rays.

Our chance of rain was completely removed from yesterday's forecast for the week, but overnight I was awakened by a flash of light and realized we had a thunderstorm overhead. There was at least 1 1/2" of water in the dog dish on the porch (my informal rain gauge). And I picked up an entire newspaper, scattered all over the front and side and next door neighbor's yard. I know where it came from - last night I didn't put my trash out because it was so windy, I can keep it for a few more days because I don't have much. But up the street when I was picking up bags of grass I saw a trash bag with newspapers sitting there open. I'm sure those papers are now all over the neighborhood.

By tomorrow last night's rain will have soaked in enough to let me do some good gardening, so I'm going to spend all of today and then some on work for work, and take time tomorrow to garden in the morning. It's quite chilly out there right now - the storm must have been at the dry line of a cold front moving in.

Today would be my mother's 89th birthday. I'll have to think of something special to do to celebrate it. Maybe I'll sort some of her sewing notions this evening, and keep the ones that are in good shape here for use. She loved to sew.
