I remember Michael Sarrazin in Frankenstein - The True Story (which it really wasn't) started out handsome, and without makeup, but as the story progressed, his face deteriorated more and more. The teleplay was written by Christopher Isherwood and Don Bachardy, and there was a strong hint of homosexual overtones in the relationship between Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. James Mason's "Dr. Polidori" had nothing to do with the original novel, and, IMO, was totally unnecessary. The cast was good, but the adaptation could have been a helluva lot closer to what Mary Shelley wrote.

Still, after all these years, I remember the performances of Leonard Whiting (Victor) and Michael Sarrazin (the Creature).
