Yesterday I took the car in for its MOT test and service, and then walked off towards the town, stopping for a breakfast baguette en route. walked around the local market, but didn't buy anything there, only some smetana at a Polish shop which has opened up. Then the bus to Bluewater, the nearby mall. I wasn't wearing a pedometer, but getting pretty worn out.

Bought some groceries at Marks and Spencer and John Lewis food halls - those of you not in the UK need to know that these are definitely NOT Walmart equivalent.

Also a remnant of net curtaining so I can shade the bit of my living room window that lets the setting sun into our eyes. I was going to look for a folding screen, but by this time I had had the estimate from the garage. I still have some 1970s poster hangers, which I will use to fix it up. I do have curtains from Dad's, but the house vendor took the rails (without notice - I would have thought they came under fixtures and fittings and should have been left), and I can't spend out for new until one or other of the properties on the market have sold.

The car cost about £650, with a new cam chain, and fixing the electric loom in the tailgate, which is moe than I would get for it in exchange for a new one, which I can't do until....

This morning I have done more swapping of winter and summer clothes. I found I could fit 16 boxes in the wardrobe instead of 12 by turning them round 90 degrees, so have put away more sweaters.
