sian, as long as you have a large-ish planted area around your water feature for the froggies to rest and hide in, they'll be fine. I have a boggy area next to the pond, with Hostas, ferns etc. which provides plenty of moist shelter for the resident amphibians.

The only time our cat came across a frog, the shrieks coming from the 2-inch-long frog brought me running out from the house to find out who was being murdered!! The cat was obviously taken aback too, so don't worry, they can look after themselves!
