I have looked for mention of this song for years. I love it. I remember my grandfather had this record and I used to play it. I try to think who the artist was but all I can remember was 'Johnny Green and his White Mountain Boys' OR 'Johnny White and his Green Mountain Boys.
I must have been about five or six but I always remembered the lyrics and the tune. Must have made a strong impression since I am now older than my grandfather was back then.... It was in the early 1920's... I also know that the record was one of the first small diameter discs. Not much bigger than a DVD disc is now. It was probably a hillbilly group performing this.
