This afternoon we let my dogs and Zeke (the chocolate lab) off of their leashes in my back yard. I kept Poppy by me for a few minutes, and Cinnamon so clearly wanted Poppy with her that I finally let her go. Cinnamon is the one that was actually in Zeke's face so much that he was growling. I think, in hindsight, that he didn't recognize the dominant female was trying to get him to roll over. I finally hosed them all, and it settled down. Cinnamon and Zeke each took a energetic dip in her wading pool- it was funny to watch him creep up to it, take a drink, dip a paw in, then climb in and joyfully roll around. We walked them back up the street when Susie took Zeke home - a nice experiment. Susie was surprised at how large my back yard is - a great space for these guys to run around. There were a few of those mad-dash laps run out there today. :)

It was too late to mix another bucket of mortar this evening (I started this wall by mixing it by the wheelbarrow full, now I'm mixing it in a regular bucket and doing smaller and smaller adjustments) and I didn't think I had the time or enough perfect-shaped rocks to finish the wall. Instead, I cleaned up the yard a bit, hauling one load of the old gray mortar from the second wing wall (where I'm getting some of the rocks I need for the front wall) out back. Then I filled the wheelbarrow with weeds pulled off of one side of the berm. When the wall is finishing the landscaping will begin, so I figured a load of weeds to the compost would give me a head start.

I'm taking off tomorrow to add to a three day weekend for some important spring work around the house and yard. I find some areas of my activity are still experiencing procrastination, but in others I've been able to get past it. It is important to finish the wall project that I started, and I think it'll give me an emotional boost for other work.
