I dunno. Does Ralph McTell invite people to join in the chorus when he plays 'Streets Of London'? Because most people do. Can't say it's ever spoiled my enjoyment of it. I think joining in choruses (and the clue lies in the word 'chorus') is a different matter from talking during a performance or trying to 'improve' a performance by singing 'harmonies' through a song.
