Hey Gang......We have all, especially me and a few others, been pushing hard on him to get the hell out into the 3D world. Finally, thanks to a CYS group at college and a Father Tom, he has gone on a few outtings and had a few nights with a group his own age who like much of what he likes and appreciate his talent. When we found out we encouraged it and many expressed how happy we were to see him experience real 3D life. If he's leaving completely or for awhile, this method is very natural.

First, its natural to rebel and I'm glad he has that piece of normalcy in him. Then there is the same thing we saw with a lot of our foster kids. When it was time (for whatever reason) to move on, be it back home or on their own as adults,a strange thing occurred almost everytime and Karen and I came to expect it and even use it. It is more apt to happen when the person is insecure and the move to something else is a bit (or a lot) scary. They could not admit it was scary or that they feared the unknown....the future had to be GREAT!!! How do you make the unknown future great? Very simple....You make the present out to be the absolute PITS!!! Then the future is much brighter. I watched it happen repeatedly.

Matt may still not understand that we didn't hate his music and that some of us are rock fans too....There is much he still does not understand. But he is out learning, spreading his wings......and if he has the crash or two, he needs to know that no matter what we are here. We all need to understand where he's coming from at this point.....and he is still socially a novice and has much emotional growth to go.
