Thread Name: York Trad Singing Weekend - Sept 2011
Subject: RE: York Trad Singing Weekend - Sept 2011
Yes, Horses for courses! we are all different but lines are drawn across the genre. Whilst some of those lines annoy the hell out of me, others less so I do respect the views held by those even if a am opposed to them. For example, I am of the opinion that one shouldn't read from a book but learn the song however if the choice is between singing the songs and not singing them then what the hell (so long as the book isn't rammed down my throat!). Some of us have been fortunate to spend a lot of time with first class musicians and singers and it does rub off, those that haven't would feel more comfortable attending events such as mentioned in this thread. I am not so arrogant as to think that I wouldn't benefit myself from such events it is just that I am quite comfortable with where I am at and I am enjoying myself, and, I do have to weigh up the cost benefit I do not have bottom less supply of cash. So children, stop bickering about semantics and if anyone attends this event I would like to hear a full and positive account of the experience in this thread, share it with those who were put off by the cash aspect, loking forward to it
