You really want to know what happened to common sense? Well, a few years ago an Ontario politician named Mike Harris co-opted it, made it his personal possession, used it as a slogan to get elected, and then proceeded to dismantle and destroy our public services, shut down our hospitals, close mental institutions and turf their inmates out on the street, eviscerate the school system and alienate the teachers (causing many of them to quit teaching and look for a less stressful career), and so on...

His procedure...divide and conquer. Offer the credulous public a "tax break" in order to sucker them into voting for him. Demonize already powerless people like single mothers, homeless, and the unemployed. Favour money over people whenever making any decision, proving that yes folks, life really IS ABOUT MONEY (which Mike has always had plenty of, thank you very much...the old "I'm all right, Jack" routine...).
