Thread Name: BS: What is a real man?
Subject: RE: BS: What is a real man?
I would like a campaign for real men (have been thinking about it for a while, along with a partner group called "Not Half"), but I don't think it's the best thing to do to define it by what real men don't do. Though one of my criteria was that they don't demand that real women alter themselves to look like porn "actresses". (Soon no-one will understand why it was peculiar for Ruskin to reject his wife.)

Perhaps "Real men celebrate real women".

But it isn't just the relationship thing.

Perhaps "Real men do what needs doing."

Be it racing towards the noise of gunfire, or learning to use the washing machine. (I think there's a card in Oxfam which is captioned (roughly) "When you've mastered the washing machine, you can be called a man.")

And I remember seeing an impressive film of an astronomy society building a telescope and installing it in their observatory.

Maybe "Real men work together to solve problems."
