I had a mither once, but my brother ran it aground on the Shoals of Herring. Terrible wreck. He was lost at sea for literally hours and thought he'd have to cut off his own arm so he'd have something to eat. Fortunately the Coast Guard and some other boaters rescued him, helping him push off the sandbar before he had to start drinking his own urine for water. The mither was lost, stove in, never to sail again. For many years it was used as a navigational aid on the Mississippi until the Great Flood of '37 swept it away.
