A posting to uk.musc.folk is likely to turn up a lot more activity . . That area used to be outstanding for choice in Folk . . Farnham Folk Club (whose organiser some feel went on to greater things, IIRC) and West End Centre in Aldershot are probably still worth checking out. As are the Godalming Ceilidhs, which I think are still going on. And I seem to recall a number of activities in Guildford.

Plus you're in easy reach of London, especially anything on the South Bank.
