Thread Name: songs to the tune of Star of the County Down
Subject: RE: songs to the tune of Star of the County Down
Recollection just come back to me ~ many years ago [about 1957] a young Irishman at one of the EFDSS monthly Sunday afternoon singarounds which Peter Kennedy ran at C#Hse sang a song to this tune, about a polisman IIRC, with burden or refrain-line "Are you there Moriar-i-ty?" [pronounced 'Morry-are-eye-tea'].

Dredged up from this distant memory:
"I'm a ??? copper of the ??? force
I'm a member of the ??C; [the C presumably for Constabulary?]
And the people cry as I pass by
'Are you there Moriar-i-ty?'"

Does this ring any bell with anyone?
