If you set up Google Voice you can get a number assigned from Google, or you can link it to an existing number. I'm going to move a linked number over to Google completely once it gets to the end of the phone contract. I don't need it on a phone any more. Anyway, this would be enough for setting up Google+.

It's open to all now, but many of us have invitations to send if you want one.
