But if it's fleas you're talking about, they don't care whether you're sitting or standing, so you might as well sit once your in. But it might be better saying "Sorry, I can't come in because I've got fleas" - which might be embarrassing, but it wouldn't be unprofessional. And it would cut out the risk of someone phoning up complaining that their social worker has given them fleas... Naah, that won't happen, don't worry.

There are good bits too. Mainly when you find a way to force your department to unlock the money to pay for something one of your people needs. There's always a way, if you don't care about being loved by your bosses.
