I thought of refreshing one of the Mondegreen threads, but it's not exactly mondegreens I'm thinking of: and I couldn't find a previous thread for quite what I am talking of. The following is an example:~

On an old thread about drama & its practitioners, I found someone had used the word

~thesbians~.

I should love to think he/she had deliberately created a fine new portmanteau word for 'actresses with sapphic sexual tendencies'.

Alas, I suspect however it was merely an orthograhic solecism.

But what a fertile, packed-with-meaning one!

Any comparable examples ~~ either from 'Cat threads or elsewhere?
