Every circle of acquaintance needs somebody uncool who gets invited to parties so he can put away the tables and chairs when it's over. I bet Shane is the guy.

I'm familiar with this because I'm that kind of person. My church once mounted a campaign to restore its stained-glass, and my husband and I helped a lot. At the end there was a thank-you dinner for the donors and volunteers. We were honored guests, but we also found ourselves cleaning up after it.

My husband was irritated, but I just laughed.
