I did the Tanners Marathon twice in my teens, first time when I was about 14 or 15. That was my first brush with place. The second time I was about 18 and really went for it, and despite getting lost in the early stages, managed to finish 8th (I have to stress it was never a competitive event) I still have the medal and the 2 certificates in a box somewhere in a cupboard.
