Subject: Origins: Can anyone help us with this song
We are searching for any info on a song as sung by ( Joe's father, now deceased,) which we believe he may have learned while working on the building sites in Glasgow about 35 years ago. We have limited words and are told that it is not clearly Irish, though it has some common ground with Donegal Irish, hence we thought it may have some Scots Gaelic influence. It goes as follows with allowances for spelling errors to make the words sound as we hear them.

Mull Sí síos go hEira x3
agus mull sí síos mo gra

O gorim gorim gu
agus mull sí síos mo gra

Hoo gull awa um skeena x3
agus mull sí síos mo gra
The tune is as follows
X:1
T:Mull sí síos go hÉire
C:Trad
M:4/4
K:D
FAAF|ED3|FAAF|ED3|dddB|AAFG|AAGE|D2d2|dBAA|G3G/A/|BBGE|D4|
We have been kindly given a new set of lyrics for the song but we wanted to make sure that the original wasn't still around before we do anything with the song. We'd be delighted if anyone could shed some light on this. Regards,
Joe and Adele.
