I have a rat in the garden! Not in the house, though I will have to make sure it can't use the old tumble drier vent. I spent yesterday trying to get a live capture trap, but could only find poison, poison stations and snap traps. (Why do they insist on calling the stuff bait?) And the stations and bait are horribly expensive - over £12 for a single use one. I don't want to use poison because of the mouse and the frogs, and having to track down the dead bodies, and I can't use it without a station because of the birds. I intend to take the offending thing off to some farflung wood away from habitation to release. (I'm assuming it isn't covered by the same laws as squirrels, which may not be released.) Off again today to try different suppliers - if that fails I know they are available in south London. I've warned the neighbours - who have a terrier.
