Drift ~ but interesting story. Heard once on a radio programme about Cole Porter that he was at a lunch party when topic of his speed in songwriting came up. His hostess bet him he couldn't write a song in an hour about the subject of a note she had just received but she hadn't opened yet; it was from a friend apologising that she couldn't make the lunch. 'I must have a reason,' said Porter. 'Oh, just say she's dead,' the hostess replied. The result was Miss Otis regrets.
