1. Shane has been known to call people "Twinky" when he wants to annoy them. And they DO get annoyed!

2. Chongo is annoyed over the fact that Bobert insists on referring to him as "Chongz". He has retaliated by calling Bobert "Bobertz".

3. I had a girlfriend who insisted on addressing me by various ridiculous nicknames, which she thought of as funny and affectionate. Nope! I won't repeat them here. I'm not stupid, eh? ;-)

I think there were several reasons why she did it. It was a habit she got from her family, where everyone had a nickname. She thought it was a good way of establishing intimacy. It was a way of establishing "ownership". That is, if she had a special name for me that no one else used, then that meant she owned me. Yeah, it was really annoying, but nothing I could do would get her to stop doing it. Also, I think she secretly (or subconsciously) figured I must be an idiot to be going out with her, so she gave me nicknames that seemed fairly appropriate for such a person... (she had some issues associated with low self-esteem)

I finally traded her to someone for a budgie, hopped a fast train to Vancouver before she realized what was up, changed my name, and hid out incognito for 5 years in the mountains and wrote a lot of songs...haven't been called by any of those damn nicknames since.
