Lordy. Can you imagine being Shame? Drinking the dregs out of beer cans discarded in the dumpsters or in the gutter, smoking fag ends cadged from coughing consumptives, being slighted by Sudbury sluts because of your stink, denying the evidence in your sliver of mirror about your syphilitic sphincter sores and the dental decay rotting your jaws away, all the while knowing full well that you'll be buried in an unmarked grave, forgotten by everyone except those to whom you were in debt at your death?
