Having grown up in L.A. I appreciate Steve's rewrite on "Do Re Me" though it could be applied to many who weren't Latino as well. In East L.A., where I grew up, there were entrenched Chicano who did fairly well as recognized citizens but still the LAPD and the mayors like Sam Yorty did everything they could to make it difficult if you weren't an "anglo".
