I was a cub reporter in 1969 on the Ilford Pictorial, Essex, Leonard Cohen frenzy was at its height. The Royal Albert Hall concert was a sell-out. The phone rang; it was the warden at Claybury, the local psychiatric hospital, who informed me that a concert had been held for the patients "by a Mr Cohen." "Not THE Leonard Cohen?" I enquired. "Yes, that's it", he agreed. It turned out that the great LC had been doing concerts for psychiatric patients for free.
