Yep you definitely need a D MAJOR in the second line, as shown in the set given from "Hughie's Ditty Bag" quoted by John Freeman in March 01, as the notes of the tune in 2nd line (in key of Am) are A G FSharp D G G E. If you're singing a flat F it's not how the Spinners did it!
