Jed, I beg to differ with your assertion that "chords and fingering is identical to a mandolin".

Because of the longer scale (the frets on my OM are about the same spacing as on my guitar), many common mandolin chords require stretches that are difficult or impossible on an OM. That's one of the reasons they don't sound like mandolins.
