Yes, as mentioned earlier, "Bugler" by The Byrds on their "Farther Along" disc is really a fine song about a boy and his dog - I just love it. Also, there is a fine group from Baton Rouge, LA named "Smithfield Fair" and on one of their recent CD's they have a song titled "Greyfriars Bobby" which is just a joyful song about the loyalty of a dog.
