I've enjoyed singing this song, learned from the singing of Norma Waterson, though I've known little about it. Am I right in thinking that each of the lines refers to a fiddle tune? so not only "Midnight on the Water" (which Is a different tune from that used for the song), "The Lark in the Morning" (which I also know as a song), and "One More For the Road" too? If so, it's so cleverly constructed - as well as being a delight to sing.
