Spent a little time in the garden this morning, watering and planning this evening's work. The sooner I get the digging/weeding done the easier it will be. The summer heat bakes the soil to a hard clay. I need to move a piece of steel edging from one side of the yard to another and transplant some of the things I pulled out of the front. Might as well recycle as much as possible.

In the house I've continued to "shop my cupboards" and am eating out of the garden. I'm eating the steel-cut oats (they're very good!) that I've had in my freezer for a while (kill any bug eggs that might have traveled with them) and there is fresh zucchini and chard for this weekend. I thinned the onions, picking the big ones crowding small ones to see if the small ones will grow more. These will dry some then go in a bin of peat moss.

I can report that since I've avoided coconut this week my hands are already feeling better. Not only the dry skin and rought spots, but the inflammation that has been present (fingers kind of stiff, almost arthritic). This month I also started taking some probiotics. Healthy gut flora can't hurt and will probably help.
