Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Ivor Cutler Lyrics
There used to be loads of old session material on-line but it was all pulled at the request of his son on the promise of a major retrospective project which never happened - at least not yet anyway. Maybe it's still out there in feral-download land where it belongs - I've got much of it, but only in highly compressed mp3 format. Other links are now blocked by FBI anti-piracy warnings. For sure, given the amount of radio session material Ivor Cutler recorded for the BBC over the years it's difficult to imagine it all being recoverable, or even extant in the archives, but half the fun is hunting it out, although the Andy Kershaw sessions suffer terribly from Kershaw's laughter. I could never understand the need to laugh at Ivor Cutler; I think John Peel felt the same way, commenting on the live LP (Life in a Scotch Sitting Room) that the audience laughter ruined it. I remember him frequently frowning at over-hysterical audience members at his Morden Tower peformances.

The books are many and various. He did a lot of little volumes for Arc in the 80s / 90s as well as more substantial editions & collections. Rumour has it that pristine editions of Cockadoodle Don't still reside in the cellars of Brancepeth Castle in Co. Durham, though I didn't push the issue during my brief residence there in 1999.

Meanwhile, here's my own wee tribute page to the great man who I first saw perform at Mordern Tower in Newcastle back in 1976...
