As far as I know penicillan was invented accidentally by a Scot and then further developed at Oxford for mass production capablity. Financed during WWII by both he British and US govts. Doesn't mean the Americans actually invented it or gave it to the world though. I agree with the other poster. Surely the American shave given so much to the world that they don't need to resort to dodgy claims like that one?
