Better today. Picked up friend after delivering to the food bank. This is because I am angry about the country I am now living in. People are needing boxes of food because when the government changes their benefits, they can have weeks with no money. The food banks work with people who have been identified by social services, doctors and so an and given vouchers. This is the deserving poor. Though I suppose that the posh boys turn that round to be the poor deserve to be poor, they are always with us, and the Big Society will take care of them. I am angry at being forced to be that society. Charities pick and choose - I used to pay taxes so people didn't fall through the cracks of personal pickiness. In this case I have my suspicions about people being asked to take Jesus into their lives to bring them out of the desperate straits they are have been pushed into by business who will not pay reasonable wages, counting on tax credits to make up the shortfall, with their friends in the government reneging on that. Rant over.
I have ordered some new nematodes for the slugs. Funny how they all turned up just as the last lot's six weeks were over. I've had to peel the radishes. I don't relish being forced to feed the slimy things. It's expensive. Why can't they be content with the compost and the kitchen waste?
I think I may go out at night with the salt sprinkler. I shall spread the coffee over the radishes.
