Penny! Recipe for choc and beet root brownies, PLEASE!
Great move, SRS!
Have been focusing of getting pots made and now bisque fired. Glaze tomorrow for Market on Saturday. Was going to mix some more glazes today but ran out of energy. Went to see a couple friends looking for buckets for glazes; wanting to try out a few new ones. They will keep an eye out for me.
The feeding stations for the raccoons have become inadequate so I went to the nearby junk store to seek improvement. Got an idea, three much needed glaze containers and a small table, just right for the portable wheel I have decided to purchase for demos. Attracts more attention and may sell more pots, she says hopefully. The "table" was once a dressing table bench, now missing its top/cushion which I will replace with a piece of plywood. Stable and the right height. $5 for the lot. The idea was free.
Ordered wheel, on sale this week in Toronto, and 10 boxes of clay. I had a fantasy about driving to Toronto to pick it up - $70 for gas plus wear on car and self, a six hour drive each way. Shipping costs - $88 look good. With the sale price of the clay vs its cost in Montreal, I am still a bit ahead - without a 100 mile, return, trip to the north of Montreal.
Also went to co-op for more kitty litter since I was near and then stopped at the closest grocery store. I had never been in it as it is very small but a long chat with the owner elicited the info that he will soon be carrying meat from the two local butchers. This is a YAY! as I can now drive about 3 miles for the good local meat instead of 17. Bought a loaf of locally made molasses/oatmeal bread. Not as tasty as I hoped but OK.
The local Super C is getting two loaves of my good Dimpfilmiers sunflower seed bread each week - I think. Two weeks ago there was none by the time I got there but last week I got one. The young woman at the cash thought it looked interesting! I am hoping they will find it sells and start carrying more. It is the only bread in the store without chemicals added.
Still did not get that printing done. That type of energy has not been available - maybe tomorrow. Last night I was on computer 'til midnight, looking at glaze recipes. This morning I copied chosen ones into my notebook. I find it so easy to follow cooking recipes but with the glazes I have to use large print and check off the ingredients and the amounts and double check. And I still manage to goof sometimes!
At the Music Fest, I got rid of a bunch of rejects and much less than perfect pots - $1 or free, depending. Clear the area for the next lot! Sorted through a bunch of pottery papers, looking for recipes in vain, and managed to throw out a pile. My glaze file has not turned up since I left Whidbey Island. I fear it was left in a shed and tossed. Some I have in the notebook, one special one I managed to get from a friendly potter, but a few I would like to have are GONE! That type of "de-cluttering" I could have done without.
some more light rain today. We need all we can get and I am grateful for every bit of it. I think of those in really horrid drought conditions. Lack of water is rather scary. The planet is in bad shape.
