Thanks for the info, Dan - that's really useful. The movement looks very similar to the 1901 18s Elgin I have. Interestingly, the 1890 watch balance wheel moves very quickly - by comparison the 1901 balance wheel looks to be a lot slower, but the 1901 is gaining several minutes a day. Looks like it needs a clean and service...
