More property, Dorothy, or would you move out of the house in town or move from the cabin you've been using?

I have friends scheduled to visit this fall, so I'm going to be working on my son's room to use it as a guest room, unless I end up loading up his bed and taking it to his house for college. My daughter's room has been the guest room but I have a lot of craft and sewing stuff in there now. My son will have to move soon so I need more information about furnishings needed and then I'll rearrange his room. I was looking through facebook photos yesterday and there is one of my son in the front yard taken by a friend who commented that he "lives in a cottage." I have cultivated that look, to try to disguise what is actually a rather ugly house (stone on front is interesting, but the brown brick on the sides and back does not match.) I am planning to redo some of the flower beds in the front, remove things that are there but struggling, so that in the fall my friends will see a house that does have a cottage look and the gardens will emphasize it.

Super hot this week - may have to hire my son to dog sit tomorrow. The garden has slowed, we're getting eggplant but everything else is just hanging on until fall when we get a big growth spurt.
