Before the Civil War the US had 1/2 cent coins...afterwards we had 2 cent and 3 cent coins. The coins meant something then. If we get rid of the penny, everything will be rounded off so that nickels will be the smallest. Guess which way they'll be rounded....

Canada stays ahead of us in several ways, and I HOPE someone in Congress will do the math and see how much can be saved by adopting relevant coins.
