I found "Give Me Roses While I Live" in a 1925 Songbook "Calvary Hymns" published by RH Cornelius, Fort Worth, TX. Copyright 1925 by RH Cornelius, words by James Rowe. He consistently gives his birthplace as Alabama in 1900 -1930 census.
