What did happen to them? Are they now 'Bandies' since groups became bands? And when and why did that happen? Bands used to be jazz, dance, brass, silver, tin (I kid you not),big, Salvation Army, Billy Cotton etc. They often used to play in streets, parks and bandstands and sometimes wore funny semi-military uniforms. No strings attached: that was no sax please orchestras. Whereas groups were 3 planks spankers and chap banging away at the back, playing rock.So what did happen?
