Thread Name: Lyr Req: Body in the Bag (sung by D. Disley)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Body in the Bag (sung by D. Disley)
My Grandparents, Uncle and My Mother used to sing this to us as when we were children (over 50 years ago) I can recall another verse that went
I went into the barracks
To be rid of Old Tom
But the Sentry saw me drop it
And he thought it was a bomb.
He came at me with Bayonet fixed
To stab me through the heart.
But I was very clever,
And also very smart.
And I Biffed him with
The Body in the Bag
There was also another verse about 'going in the public park'
and 'throwing it neath some bushes
and a rather burly chap
cried 'what do you mean by
throwing this 'ere in my
young ladies lap' and he
Hit me with the body in the bag
or words to that effect
If anyone knows where I can get a copy of this recording for my grandchildren I would truly be grateful.. My email is barbara.warren3@hotmail.com
Thankyou for the memories
