And especially single women don't get there, because they are saved through their relationship (sealed marriage?) with a saved man. They don't get to rule a planet, but fill it with their husband's spiritual children.

On the positive side, I gather that they don't have a hell for the non-Mormons, but a lesser place that isn't hellish but doesn't involve planetary terraforming.

As to the inspired folks writing according to what they expect to be appropriate, in the case of of the Hebrew scriptures, the NT and the Qu'ran, they were inspired to write in the best language available at the time. Not pastiche of an earlier attempt. If Goid inspired someone who would do that, maybe he didn't choose too well by comparison with earlier prophets.

This doesn't alter that if someone has strong views about what is correct living for themselves, but goes out of their way to push things they regard as, in the Islamic term, haram, to those outside the church, that is likely to attract accusations of hypocrisy. You don't find Catholics setting up abortion clinics, Methodists off-licences (booze shops), Muslim pork butchers. There is the interesting case of a Tubby Isaacs who set up the first Eel and Pie shop in London, I suppose, but I don't think Jews regard the kosher laws as about health, which Mormon teaching about tobacco is.
