Thread Name: DTStudy: She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
Subject: RE: DTStudy: She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
When I was a member of a bushwalking club in Melbourne Australia in the late 1960s we used to sing a slight variation of this

In her hair she wears a yellow ribbon
She wears it in the springtime, in the merry moth of May, hey hey
And if you ask her why the hell she wears it
She wears it for a bushwalker who is far far away

Far away, not far enough
Far away not far enough
She wears it for a bushwalker who is far far away

Around the park she wheels a perambulator..........

On his wall her Daddy keeps a shotgun..........

Far away, a bushwalker is laughing
He's laughing in the springtime, in the merry month of May, hey hey
And if you ask him why the hell he's laughing
He's laughing cause he is so very far far away

Far away, quite far enough
Far away quite far enough
Hes laughing cause he is so very far,far away.

No-one really knew the origins of the songs we sang, they were just sung and passed down to new members that way, by oral tradition, I guess you have to call it.
