Sorry to be serious, but, why does anyone "season" anything?

Allow me:

1. To enhance the flavour.
2. To hide the flavour.

So, why do so many people alduterate their cooking with "additives"? If it turns out okay, chow down. If it "needs" spice or sauce, you decide - not the cook. That would be rude, no?
