As far as Peanuts was concerned, Charlie Brown was the confused little kid that earned sympathy. Agreed that Lucie was the right winger and capitalist.

My sometimes hero in the strip was Linus. He was the only one that "understood it all;" - even if understanding meant he knew that he couldn't do anything about it, so he just grabbed his blankie and sat back and tried to stay happy.

A more recent artist that probably not too many have heard of is Richard Crowson. He's one of the political cartoonists (single pane zingers) and doesn't run every day, or even regularly; but he snatches the point pretty well. Also the banjo in a local (Wichita) band with some great compositions. With more exposure, quite a few here would appreciate him, I think; although lots of his stuff is sort of "local" and means more if you watch the news here.
