As a less than traditional "Celtic" musician, I have to uphold and defend whichever psuedo celtic cr*p that comes from the soul. Both my maternal and paternal families are Scot/Irish, but we're American (Texan) as well, so the music we make is well seasoned with that. However, I am so sick of hearing Garth Brooks sing "Ireland" (barf!) and the Dixie Chicks with their soulless little Celtic music blurp "Ready To Run" (gak!). IMHO, it's not about how well it's done, but how much it's felt.So there.
