Kendall ~~ You know perfectly well the difference between making an analogy [you use plenty yourself] and straying from the subject. & you know that it wasn't my 'statement', but the quotation of the words of a fictitious character in a novel, my doubts as to the absolute precision of which were clearly signalled in post citing it ~~ ie, that the 'steak dinner' might not have been the primary object, but the cliff-driving does appear to have occurred. Don't make your points by pretending to be a silly old casuist; it's beneath you.
