True-love has been singing this song for many, many years. I've always loved it. He hasn't sung it for a while. He's singing it now as I post. Ahhhh!
Hildebrand also got the words from a recording. He heard it around 1970. He may have miss-heard some words but I'll post them as he heard it because some are slightly different and they seem to make sense.
He heard for the second half of the second verse:

And talk some of the good times
And look for a rainbow sign
But I've loved too long to be that strong
And I hope it doesn't rain.
