We're doomed because our culture believes that its environment is, at the same time, irrelevant, infinite in extent and endlessly exploitable. Note how, in a time of economic recession (caused by reckless greed and stupidity), concern for the environment is downgraded as any sort of priority. Of course we're doomed - it's blindingly obvious for anyone with an elementary knowledge of natural limits and eyes to see!
