One recent morning while enjoying my sunny Sick Bay I happened to notice a flash of red in the bushes along the creek, looking out the east window which, most winters, has been kept covered. We need to keep the heat loss as low as possible. (Being on house arrest for HHS, this year we splurge on keeping the indoors as bright as possible.)

Of course it was a cardinal, lurking among reddish-brown herbiage still clinging to the bushes. And a lovely, sunny meditation it was, enjoying his presence. Oh LOOK, there are TWO.... two bright red males.... and a THIRD!?!?!?! I got up and put out some cereal for them, scattered over the ramp's railing that faces the bushes. (I didn't have anything else they might like.)

And then, as they say in poker, I went "all in": I hied myself hence to Amazon. Invested about $40 bucks in bird feeders I can mount on the ramp's posts, and a birdbath too.

Cuz when it comes to birdehs, one is never enough.

In early spring we are always buzzed by hummingbirds that seldom stay the summer. By golly I will be ready for them this year, and THIS year when all that snow melts, I'll be able to get down onto that porch and set a spell among the birdehs! Bird feeders and colorful hanging pots and..... zero grav recliners... camp chairs.... pickin'.....

The mind must know I am going to survive this surgery and complications. It has gone off without me, planning for a few more years in this ole house. Everything portable to go to our retirement digs a few more years down the road.... yep..... uh huh, I see it now...
